First Tennessee Bank Celebrates Grand Reopening of Downtown Franklin Location

First Tennessee Bank on Public Square in downtown Franklin is not new to the banking scene, but a ribbon cutting on Friday showcased its new space.

Located behind Ruby Sunshine, First Tennessee Bank staff and Williamson, Inc. chamber ambassadors celebrated the grand reopening of the bank’s new space.

With 49 middle Tennessee branch locations, Carol Yochem, president of the Middle Tennessee region, said the bank’s mission remains the same.

“At First Tennessee, we remain committed to crafting the best employees, investing in our community, and to serving you, our customers,” she said.

Nancy Conway, senior vice president of community relations, said the six staff members at the downtown Franklin location were “fabulous.”

“It’s not just the fabulous team, but it’s the convenience of not matter where you go in Tennessee, if you need First Tennessee, they’re there for you,” she said.

Branch Manager Ben Wheeler comes from Auburn, Alabama, where he attended college and met his wife, Elizabeth.

Wheeler has spent eight years in banking. He got into the field partially because of his grandfather, Charles Reeves, who was president of a bank in Wheeler’s hometown of Lanett, Alabama.

“He knew everybody and was loved by everybody,” Wheeler said. “My grandfather is a hero of mine.”

Wheeler sees the banking profession as one that is “noble” and exactly where he wants to be.

“I’ve always looked at banking as a very noble profession because you get to help people do a lot of things that are important in their lives,” he said. “I felt like I found my niche, my spot where I needed to be.”
