Class 101 Nashville

We recently sat down with Hollie Holt from Class 101 Nashville to learn more about how her services have been relieving the day to day stress associated with the college planning process. See how Hollie’s passion has helped students get into the college of their dreams while making it as affordable as possible.

Hollie began Class 101 in the Nashville area in September of 2016 with the hope of helping as many young adults and their families as she could. Since the beginning, Hollie has helped more than 55 students find and afford the college of their dreams. Connecting young adults to the resources and opportunities available to them is what Hollie is truly passionate about.

Before bringing starting Class 101, Hollie had gone through the college planning process with her daughter. “Each process is different for each college and you don’t know what you don’t know,” she said. If she would have known about Class 101, Hollie would have used their services and avoided making the common mistakes that most parents make during this process.

Class 101 is a national college planning franchise that helps high school students get into better colleges and qualify for higher amounts of scholarships and financial aid. Each student helped is given an individualized and customized plan that helps them to understand the weight of this important process. Class 101 Nashville is truly unique, because Hollie takes a ‘get the job done through whatever it takes’ approach.

Hollie sits down with each student to get a better understanding of who they are and what they would like to work towards. Through building Academic Resumes, Hollie helps students find the best path that fits their personality and future career desires. Once they have discovered what that path may look like, they start to create a ‘business plan’ together.

Throughout the entire process, Hollie keeps the students accountable making sure that they are pushing themselves towards the goals they laid out in the beginning. One thing that Hollie stresses right off the bat, is to get involved in as many community activities and organizations and take advantage of as many opportunities that align with their passions. This is just one way to help the student know for sure that this is the correct path for them.

Class 101 Nashville also hosts School Visits to colleges and universities being sure to expose students to as many different campuses as possible. Through this type of exposure, students can grasp the bigger picture and see what they are working towards, as well as what they do and do not like.

Through ACT Prep, students are working on achieving the best possible scores so that they can qualify for more merit-based scholarships. Hollie mentioned that just a two-point increase on the ACT can open the door to a handful of more scholarship opportunities.

Hollie uses all her insider tools to make sure that the student and their family don’t get lost in the process. Once a student has decided on a ‘dream school’, Hollie makes sure to fully understand what that college is looking for in an applicant. Through knowing the essay questions on the application to knowing which scholarship opportunities are available, Hollie goes the extra mile to get her student accepted with as much financial support as possible to help alleviate any stress from the family.

Another unique aspect of Class 101 Nashville is Hollie’s team approach. Hollie works with the family, high school guidance counselors, teachers, college admission faculty, coaches and more to ensure that the student has as many people and resources to use as possible.

Hollie’s advice for families with high school aged children, get the ball rolling early. Start visiting as many different college campuses as you can to get students comfortable with where they will be in a few years. Also, never cross a college off the list because of cost. There are numerous opportunities available for scholarships and financial support, they just have to navigate that process correctly, which is where Class 101 Nashville can come in and help.

While speaking with Hollie, you can tell that she is truly passionate about what she does. She is available for any questions that you may have concerning Class 101 Nashville and the college planning process. Hollie understands the weight of this decision so she does not take it lightly.
