Williamson Medical Center welcomes first baby of 2019

Williamson Medical Center welcomed the first baby of 2019 Jan. 1 at 10:22 a.m. Anya Aryal weighed in at eight pounds even and was born to Ambu Aryal-Pokhrel and Sumit Aryal. Born 11 days before her due date, the baby is the second child for the Franklin couple, and their first to be delivered at Williamson Medical Center.

“We chose Williamson Medical Center because it’s so close to our house now, and a friend had told us how great the care was,” Aryal-Pokhrel said. “I’ve really appreciated how helpful the staff have been, especially my Labor and Delivery nurses Carlena Pierce and Belinda Vickers. There just aren’t words to describe it.”

A registered nurse, Aryal-Pokhrel is a patient of Jacqueline Stafford, M.D., at Vanderbilt Franklin Women’s Center. Baby Anya was delivered by Alison Mullaly, M.D., who was on call for the OB-GYN practice over the holiday.

“It was wonderful to deliver a healthy baby girl on New Year’s Day, and I wish her and her family all the best going into 2019,” Mullaly said.

The Aryal family will receive a wagon full of gifts and newborn essentials from Williamson Medical Center – a hospital tradition awaiting the first baby each New Year.
