Franklin and Williamson counties just saw a record-breaking year for tourism, and now there are even more reasons for people to visit the area.

The Williamson County Convention and Visitors Bureau held their State of Tourism event Wednesday at the Leiper’s Fork Distillery.

The distillery is expected to open this summer and bring a lot of people to visit.

“People are generally interested in the distillation and production of whiskey, and, at a small scale like this we’re doing here, we have thousand-gallon mass cooker fermentation tanks and a 500-gallon steel,” said Lee Kennedy with the distillery. “You can see every aspect of the process in one viewing.”

They plan to begin their first batches of whiskey this week.
