A national data center company plans to invest $20 million to expand its Franklin operations and already has contracts for a good chunk of that space.

At Thursday night’s Nashville Technology Council banquet, Tierpoint President and COO Tom McMillin announced that his team will grow its facility on Eddy Lane near downtown Franklin by 16,000 square feet of raised-floor space to 53,000 square feet. McMillin said clients have signed on for 20 percent of that new capacity.

Tierpoint took over the facility, which was built in 2013, after paying $575 million for Windstream’s data center business in late 2015. The St. Louis-based company now runs about 40 locations around the country and has been investing heavily in expanding capacity at many of them.
