WCAR’s Philanthropic Foundation Announces $5,000 Scholarships
REALTOR® Good Works Foundation is now accepting applications for their annual $5,000 scholarships. These scholarships are open to all Williamson County Tennessee public high school seniors. Deadline to apply is Monday, April 15.
Founded in 2007, REALTOR® Good Works Foundation is the philanthropic arm of the Williamson County Association of REALTORS® and was created to facilitate WCAR members with a desire to contribute to the growth and success of the community.
WCAR members are involved and invested in Williamson County in countless ways and through many community organizations. However, WCAR’s main passion has always been helping our local community schools by providing annual scholarships. “We want to invest in future generations starting right here in our community. We are always encouraged and motivated meeting these young leaders and the lives they impact,” said Jordan Vaughn, RGWF 2019 Scholarship Committee Chairman.
Throughout the year countless members of WCAR come together to organize fundraisers such as silent actions, a golf tournament, and association mixers to raise funds. The association raises thousands of dollars annually to provide scholarships to graduating seniors. “It always does my heart good to see the look on these kids’ faces when they realize they have been awarded a scholarship. Even more rewarding is when we hear back from them after they have entered college to thank us, once again, and to give us an update on their many academic involvements,” said Danny B Wood, RGWF Chairman of the Board of Trustees.
This scholarship is needs based but looks beyond just income as need. The committee will look at community involvement; is the student working while maintaining a positive GPA; what is the impact they are having on the Williamson County Community? WCAR is looking to see the effect this scholarship will have on the student’s immediate need, but also how that investment in their life will impact our community.
WCAR looks forward to meeting all our 2019 candidates. If you are interested in the RGWF Scholarship, please visit your school guidance counselor or visit www.wcartn.org for more information.
