Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee President and CEO to Depart in Mid-June; Search for Successor Underway

NASHVILLE, TENN. – June 3, 2019 – Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee announced today that President and CEO Sandy Obodzinski will be leaving her post after more than three years leading the non-profit cancer support organization. Obodzinski’s last day will be June 14; a search for her successor is underway.

“Gilda’s Club has been on a remarkable run since 2016 under Sandy Obodzinski’s leadership,” said Board Chair Jim Brown. “Under Sandy’s guidance, Gilda’s Club Nashville became Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee, grew our budget by nearly 30 percent, successfully opened our first satellite location in Williamson County in 2018, and added highly talented staff. Sandy made her mark as our leader by achieving much progress for Gilda’s Club, and we wish her the very best in her pursuits.”

“I move on with a sense of enormous gratitude for having been trusted and supported in the role of President and CEO of Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee, especially during a time of such significant growth and transition for the organization,” Obodzinski said. “Fostering strong, sustained support for our mission – to ensure all people impacted by cancer are empowered by knowledge, strengthened by action, and sustained by community – has been a privilege in every way.”

According to Brown, Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee’s Executive Committee and Board of Directors have begun working to identify an interim leader, as well as initiated a search process for a permanent CEO.

“Our board is committed to identifying the next leader who will oversee further growth at Gilda’s Club Middle Tennessee,” Brown said. “Our staff, board and stakeholders are committed to making sure no one in our community has to face cancer alone.”
