Cincinnati-based PatientPoint announced Friday the acquisition of Brentwood patient engagement company MedCenterDisplay.

Terms of the deal — which yields an approximately 1,000-hospital portfolio — were not disclosed in a release.

MedCenterDisplay provides digital signage, mobile apps and digital marketing solutions for hospitals. In mid-2015, the company raised $2.3 million, which followed an August 2014 raised of $1.5 million. (Read more here.)

MedCenterDisplay President and CEO Jim Aylward (pictured) said the sale was, in part, fueled by his company’s familiarity with PatientPoint.

“This combination uniquely positions us as the leader in patient engagement before, during and after a patient stay,” he said, adding that PatientPoint is respected for its “trusted role as a point-of-care innovator.”

PatientPoint focuses on patient and physician engagement at the point of care in both acute and ambulatory care settings. Its Patient Guide delivers patient information and is used by more than 750 hospitals to meet regulatory and compliance requirements regarding patient safety, patient rights and responsibilities, and the discharge process.
