Meet-A-Member: Sprintz Furniture of Cool Springs

This week you’ll meet Cheryl Oglesby, General Manager of Sprintz Furniture of Cool Springs. This company will help you “Imagine the Possibilities” of making an impact in your décor and your community!

Tell us a little about company.

Sprintz Furniture of Cool Springs is a second location of the original showroom on White Bridge Rd. in Nashville.  It’s hard to believe, we’ve been on Mallory Lane for 19 years this June.  Opening a sister location in Williamson County was a dream for Charles and Alyse Sprintz.  In 1998 I was hired to open their new Franklin location.  I had open a corporate Brentwood retailer so I was familiar with the building process.  We had a soft opening in late June, prior to Grand Opening early July 1999.  Today I smile when I read our motto that is painted over what was our design studio, “Imaginor Potestas Est….”.  “Imagine the Possibilities” is exactly what we attempt to encourage each and every consumer to do when entering our showroom.  We aim to assist those wishing to furnish homes with the best possible selection, service, and value.

Tell us about the events that led up to where your company is now.

Sprintz of Cool Springs has an amazingly diverse and professional sales team.  We started with 14 and now have 18 consultants, 8 are interior designers and one is an architect. Those without design backgrounds are sales professionals with management experience.

Within our first decade in Williamson County we split Thomasville off to a third location on Frazier Rd with a separate sales team.  We are constantly repainting and updating with the latest market buys and trends. Over the years we have become more transitional in style as our lives have become more casual. Sprintz host a Tent Sale every June which is quite popular for those shopping for best deals.  We’ve hosted Chamber social gatherings, Sprintz Anniversary parties, and designer meetings as after hour events.  Sprintz is an ASID Industry Partner and works with the design community. We work with our manufacturers to donate blemished items to our local Habitat.  I host student design tours for O’More and MTSU in addition to mentoring a student.

What is your business and how/why did you start your business?

Sprintz Furniture of Cool Springs is a 50,000-sq. ft. retail residential home furnishings showroom.  We provide the best selection in our region of upholstery, dining, bedding, and rugs.  We have an incredible selection of leather.

What’s hot in leather?  Power, adjustable head rest, lumbar and docking stations.

What is unique about your business?

We are family owned and operated.  Each and every consumer matters because we want their children and grandchildren to shop with us.  Most of our Cool Springs employees have been here 10+ years.  I have staff members that have been with me since our opening which is uncommon in retail. If you’ve had a great experience with one of our sales members, please ask for his/her assistance when you return.  The best compliment, is to refer your family, friend, or neighbor to someone you gave you great service.

What is one piece of advice you’d give businesses looking to update their space.

We recommend updates as often as your budget will allow.  We recently renovated our bedding department with dark wood floors, light neutral walls, and subdued lighting.  First impressions are lasting. I invite you to visit and let us know what you think or if you and identify the latest project in progress.

Why did you choose Williamson County to open your business?

Williamson County is a great place to live, work, and play.  33% of our Nashville business came from Williamson County so it seemed like an intelligent decision.  Being located off I65 we do a lot of KY, AL, and FL business.  Sprintz ships all over the USA.  We assist those we have developed relationships with relocations, vacation condos and second homes throughout the United States.

How has being a part of the overall business community in Williamson County helped you?

Shopping locally supports our local public schools, road, and highways.  I do my part to shop locally and encourage other to do so.  I buy flags from the Band Boosters Club, and donate to local fund-raising auctions when I can. Serving on several Chamber committees has been rewarding over the years. We were a charter member of the Cool Springs Chamber.  The President at the time was a good friend of the top sales performer at White Bridge.  He encouraged me to get involved.  I cherish my friendships and value the business partnerships we’ve formed.

Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice can you offer to the residence?

Plan in advance, not last minute.  The perfect piece may need to be ordered.  If an item is from overseas it may require a 12-16 weeks lead time. Don’t fear asking for what you want. Bring measurements of space.  Make digital photos and bring samples of what you are matching.  Ask about our design services.  Hiring a design consultant may prevent you from making a costly mistake.

How can readers take advantage of your products and services?

We are open Monday and Friday evenings until 8PM, Saturdays 10 – 6, and Sundays 1-5 for your convenience.  In addition to regular retail 10AM-6PM.  I’ve been known to open the backdoor for early shoppers when scheduled by appointment.
