This week’s Meet-A-Member is Mavidea, a technology company providing web design, internet marketing, and IT solutions. Enjoy getting to know owner Kimmy Mascari and learn more about her local business.

 

Tell us a little about yourself.  Where did you grow up?  How long have you lived in the area?

I am a Nashville Native that loves connecting and relating to others.  When I meet someone for the first time my wheels start sinning on how I can be a helpful resource for them.  I come for a very structured family of local teachers, coaches and engineers.  I am the favorite aunt of three nephews and two nieces.  When I am not working you will find me at the dog part with my 3 adopted pups… Etta (lab mix), Irene (Staffordshire mix), and Abby (Maltese mix).

What is your business and how/why did you start your business?

Mavidea is a technology company that provides web design, internet marketing, and IT solutions to small businesses.

Mavidea began over 10 years ago when a small band of young entrepreneurs wanted to build a tech business that focused on outstanding customer service, and great company culture. They saw a need for better technology support for small businesses to compete against big businesses –  both for their computer networks and for their marketing. In the last 10 years, Mavidea has served hundreds of small businesses and designed hundreds of small business websites.

Tell us about the events that led up to where your company is now.

Mavidea began in Bloomington, IL and that is where our company HQ resides. Over the years of serving small businesses, we began getting referrals from our loyal clients to help other small businesses outside of Illinois. Slowly we continued to serve more and more businesses beyond Illinois. Today, that means we feel very blessed for the opportunity that we had to expand our presence to Nashville.

The culture: Mavidea focuses on our employees feeling appreciated, respected, and valued. Happy employees produce quality work, and are motivated to be their best. This healthy culture permeates into every service we provide.

Our websites: For years, small businesses have grappled with the necessity for a quality website v. the steep cost. After listening to our clients and the market place, we created the perfect website service that provides everything a small business needs to afford their website, get quality ongoing support/service, and GOOD advice/direction on the strategy for their site.

What is one piece of advice you’d give a small business who wants to increase their web presence?

Start with your website. Potential customers are visiting your website before deciding to contact you (even those who found you via word of mouth). The very cornerstone of your marketing and the central hub of your brand is your website. Start with a solid foundation and build from there.

Why did you choose Williamson County to open your business?

Nashville is a growing city where the atmosphere is ripe with open-minded, friendly, creative, and hardworking small businesses. With a high number of new and seasoned small businesses, and the friendliness/warmth that we are used to in the Midwest – we have been able to partner with many people to better their marketing and grow their businesses.

In your own words, why is it great to do business in Williamson County, TN? 

All areas in Williamson County are growing so fast while growing so strong at the same time.  This kind of growth wouldn’t be happening if there wasn’t such a strong business community of support.  That support makes it fun and fulfilling to work in this community.

Given your business expertise and the nature of what you do, what advice can you offer to the readers?

Most small businesses we meet with feel overwhelmed and often confused about what they need to compete in their market, grab customer’s attention, and grow their revenue. Slow down for a minute, take a deep breath, and make a plan…you’ll feel better once you understand your goals. Then start working on those goals one step at a time. Most of the time when we meet with a business, we tell them to start with a solid website and then later determine what other digital marketing services would be effective for them.
