City of Franklin Announces Open House Invitation to First Public Involvement Meeting for Columbia Avenue Widening & Improvements Project
FRANKLIN, Tenn. – The City of Franklin invites all users, corridor tenants and interested citizens to attend the first public involvement meeting for the Columbia Avenue (State Route 6 and U.S. Route 31) Widening & Improvements Project this Tuesday, May 17, 2016.
This open house is from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Rolling Hills Community Church’s Franklin campus The WareHouse at 1810 Columbia Avenue, Suite 100, Franklin, Tennessee 37064. Attendees will have the opportunity to provide feedback to the City and consultant team.
The project widens Columbia Avenue (SR-6), from Mack Hatcher Parkway to Downs Boulevard, to accommodate projected traffic volumes and improve mobility to and from downtown Franklin. Columbia Avenue serves as one of the City’s primary arterial roadways and historic routes. These activities on Columbia Avenue include the appropriate environmental documentation in accordance to National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) requirements. Additional activities include planning and analysis of the proposed improvements and preliminary engineering.
The City of Franklin Engineering Department is responsible for the implementation and coordination of projects similar to the Columbia Avenue Widening Improvements Project.
