Williamson Medical Center is proud to announce it is the only hospital in Tennessee to earn a 5-Star rating from Hospital Compare, a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) quality ranking program. Fewer than 300 hospitals nationwide achieved the 5-Star ranking.

Hospital Compare reports information about the quality of care at over 4,000 Medicare-certified hospitals, including over 130 Veterans Administration (VA) medical centers, across the country.

Hospital Compare was created through the efforts of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) in collaboration with organizations representing consumers, hospitals, doctors, employers, accrediting organizations and other federal agencies.

“This ranking is such a testament to the dedication of our physicians and staff to ensuring we deliver safe, high-quality patient care,” said Andy Russell, M.D., Chief Medical Officer at Williamson Medical Center. “Our physicians and quality leaders work diligently to stay abreast of the latest evidence-based data and ensure we have protocols in place to deliver care in a manner that is demonstrated to deliver the best patient outcomes.”

According to Chief Executive Officer, Donald Webb, Williamson Medical Center staff and physicians never take for granted the choice patients have when it comes to their healthcare. “Patients in our region have trusted our expertise for more than 60 years,” said Webb. “We know that we have to continue to earn that trust every day. Consumer-oriented information such as this gives consumers who may not know us the opportunity to compare us with other hospitals and make the choice that best meets their needs.”

Hospital Compare gives consumers a “snapshot” of how well hospitals in their community, and around the nation, care for patients. The website allows consumers to select multiple hospitals and directly compare performance measures related to heart attack, heart failure, pneumonia, surgery and other conditions. These results are organized by general information, patient experience, timely/effective care, complications, readmissions and deaths, use of medical imaging and payment/value of care.
