“Our Shoot for the Troops event is about more than just having a great time,” said President of JCS Nashville, Don Ross. “It’s about honoring our freedom as well as supporting and raising funds for these extraordinary heroes and their families.”

“Years and years after these heroes have suffered grievous and permanent injuries, we want the veterans and their families to know that the citizens in their community still honor and recognize the enormous sacrifice they made for our freedom,” said Ross. “As their injuries or death is permanent, so is the support that we provide.”

At this year’s event JCS Nashville will commemorate Steve Tidwell, one of JCS Nashville’s beloved board members who passed away in April 2019 after battling ALS, by naming the event Steve Tidwell’s Shoot for the Troops. Steve was an avid supporter of the JCS mission and was passionate about the care and support of our returning Heroes from war. He organized and initiated JCS Nashville’s very first Shoot for the Troops event. In Steve’s honor, not only will they name the clay shooting event after him from now on, but they also will honor him by awarding the best shooter with the “Steve Tidwell Shoot for the Troops Memorial Cup”, which is a large, silver cup engraved with the winner’s name on it.
