Habitat for Humanity announces date for 2018 “Hammers and High Heels” Women Build Fundraiser
Event to take place on June 2nd at the Factory in Franklin
Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury has announced the 2018 Hammers and High Heels Women Build fundraiser to take place on June 2nd at the Factory at Franklin – Liberty Hall, 230 Franklin Rd., Franklin from 6:30 – 11 p.m.
The festive event will be emceed by Dawn Davenport, Emmy award winning sports broadcaster and co-host of the 3HL radio show on 104.5 The Zone. The fundraiser will feature an incredible LIVE and silent auction featuring trips, unique memorabilia (including a 2018 team-signed Nashville Predators jersey and guitar signed by multiple artists including Garth Brooks, Kelsea Ballerini, Dierks Bentley, and several more), items from Franklin’s finest retailers, as well as a “Jewelry Pull” hosted by Kendra Scott. Guests will start the night off with hand-crafted cocktails provided from Gray’s on Main featuring H. Clark Distillery’s small-batched Tennessee Bourbon and Dry Gin, followed by a gourmet buffet from Catering by Suzette and a variety of desserts from the Cheesecake Factory, Nothing Bundt Cakes, Papa C Pies, Schakolad Chocolate Factory, and Triple Crown Bakery. Later Rubiks Groove will take the stage with their “Out of the Box” Dance Party, highlighting hits from the 80’s & 90’s. VIP ticket guests will be treated to special after-dinner drinks from Gray’s, a coffee bar from The Coffee House at Second and Bridge, and specialty desserts in an upstairs lounge decorated by local designer Holly Thompson Homes. In addition, surprise guests are also scheduled to appear during the event.
Habitat for Humanity’s Women Build program empowers women to grab a hammer and take the lead to help lower-income families in their own community build and purchase safe, affordable housing. Hammer’s & High Heels, HFHWM’s largest fundraiser, will bring 350 to 400 people together on June 2nd to raise the $70,000 needed for the “bricks and sticks” of this home. Habitat for Humanity has built 215 homes in Williamson and Maury Counties and continues to build 10-12 new homes per year.
Habitat for Humanity Williamson-Maury kicks off National Women Build week on Saturday, May 12. This year’s Women Build future homeowner Vanesia Brown is a single mother of two who never imagined she would own her own home. She was ecstatic to qualify to be part of the Habitat Homeownership program. Over the next few months, she will complete 280 hours of “sweat equity,” save up the $2,000 in closing costs, and will then be eligible to purchase her house with a zero-interest mortgage.
