Franklin Polo Academy launches interscholastic program, prepares for Poloween

In its first-ever sanctioned inter-scholastic polo match, Franklin Polo Academy’s new Tennessee team took on one of the best high school teams in the South in Alabama’s Bluewater Creek, scoring five goals before dropping the match 8-5.

The new team, which includes Nashville-area players Jacob and Zach Wallace of Station Camp High School in Gallatin and Cey Johnson of Page High School in Franklin along with Caroline Mooney of Canton, Ga., also played two matches last weekend against Louisville, and continues to make progress.

The final event on the fall polo calendar is the highly anticipated second-annual Poloween event, presented by Carlock Motors, where an exhibition two-chukker match featuring players dressed as superheroes and villains will lead into the main event, a full four-chukker match between the Franklin Polo team and the University of Kentucky squad.

On Sunday, October 29, the Poloween event will be held at the Tractor Supply Co. Arena at the Park at Harlinsdale Farm. Gates open at 2 p.m., and the first ball drops at 3 p.m. General admission tickets are $10 at the gate, and children ages 10 and under get in free. Cabanas are available – along with food and drink packages – on the grass berm of the Arena. For more information, visit www.franklinpolo.com or email info@franklinpolo.com.

Families interested in enjoying a beautiful fall afternoon watching the matches can expect something for everyone to enjoy. Franklin Polo Academy will again be offering pony rides, face painting, a bounce house, music and hafltime challneges for the kids, along with special Halloween-themed fun. The concessions stand at the Tractor Supply Co. Arena will have food available from Catering by Suzette, along with a cash bar.
