Restaurant will employ approximately 100 team members


Chick-fil-A will open its newest Franklin restaurant at 1122 Murfreesboro Road on Aug. 14, bringing its handcrafted food and award-winning customer service, commitment to community engagement and hands-on mentoring for nearly 100 newly hired Team Members.

About Operator Bill Pfaender

Being referred to as a veteran is double the praise for Chick-fil-A at Hwy. 96 Operator Bill Pfaender, who along with serving more than 20 years in the United States Marine Corps, also boasts nearly 21 years as a Chick-fil-A Operator. Combine those tenures and Pfaender has the experience to tackle his newest opportunity – Operator of two Chick-fil-A restaurants that includes the Thoroughbred Square restaurant, which he has operated for the past 18 years.  Pfaender joins a small group of multi-stand-alone Chick-fil-A Operators, a unique distinction within the company.

Born in Jacksonville, Fla. and raised in central Florida, Pfaender’s earliest Chick-fil-A experiences occurred during his travels away from home when he fell in love with the chain’s signature Chick-fil-A Sandwich and made sure to eat it whenever he could. After graduating from the University of South Florida, Pfaender joined the Marine Corps and was commissioned as a second Lieutenant. He spent the next 21 years serving throughout the United States and the Pacific theater.

During his military career, Pfaender remained a fan of Chick-fil-A. When contemplating retirement, he felt drawn to the chain’s independent leadership opportunity and its focus on mentoring young people, both which matched his own entrepreneurial goals. He became a Chick-fil-A Operator in 1998 and shortly thereafter, he and his wife, Karen, along with their two children, relocated to Franklin to open the Thoroughbred Square restaurant. Pfaender is thrilled to be opening the newest Franklin Chick-fil-A restaurant.

“I am excited to continue to bring Chick-fil-A’s signature handcrafted menu items and personalized customer service to Franklin,” he said. “I am committed to empowering my Team Members as together we focus on creating a memorable experience for our guests who have become family.”

Restaurant details

Pfaender’s nearly 5,000-square-foot restaurant has been designed to enhance all aspects of a guest’s experience from the drive-thru to the counter to in-restaurant dining. Highlights include a:

  • dual-lane drive-thru merging into a single pick-up point that can handle upwards of 200 cars an hour. The location also has environment-controlled canopies to further enhance the outside ordering experience.
  • heritage restaurant design that showcases a vintage-inspired interior with floor-to-ceiling windows and drop pendant lighting.
  • dining room with free Wi-Fi, two-story playground and 110 seats, along with a 12-seat outdoor patio.
  • full-service menu with a variety of healthy and dietary options and breakfast until 10:30 a.m., and will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Monday through Saturday. All Chick-fil-A locations are closed on Sunday.

First 100 Campout event

The overnight 12-hour grand opening First 100 Campout party includes engaging activities for participants who will also enjoy Chick-fil-A meals throughout the countdown to the opening. Registration begins in the restaurant parking lot at

6 p.m., Aug. 13. Details include:

  • Up to 100 adults winning a digital offer card with a year of free Chick-fil-A meals (52 meals with each consisting of a Chick-fil-A Chicken Sandwich, medium Waffle Potato Fries and a medium beverage).

Chick-fil-A in Nashville

Nashville’s first Chick-fil-A opened in 1978 at Hickory Hollow Mall. The Hwy. 96 Chick-fil-A will be the third location in Franklin and becomes the fourth to open in metro Nashville in the past year. It is one of 120 new restaurants slated to open nationwide this year, creating more than 10,000 jobs.
