Men’s clothing and accessory brand Peter Millar will open a shop in spring 2017 at Hill Center Brentwood, the first in Tennessee for the upscale fashion retailer.

Eric Viars, a veteran Nashville retailer and owner of The Oxford Shop for the past 23 years, will own the shop via a retail partnership with Peter Millar LLC and offer exclusively the company’s fashion line.

Founded in 2001 and headquartered in Raleigh, the privately held company is a wholly owned subsidiary of Compagnie Financière Richemont SA. The latter is based in Switzerland, operates multiple high-end fashion brands and annually generates more than $10 billion in revenue.

Terms of the lease for the 1,760-square-foot space were not disclosed in a release.

Peter Millar, particularly known for its golf attire for both women and men, operates nine locations, with the geographically closest to Nashville being in Atlanta.

The Hill Center Brentwood shop will offer Peter Millar’s “complete lifestyle collection” of suits, shirts, sweaters, sunglasses and luggage, according to the release.

Of note, every Peter Millar boxed shipment includes a mint. College football announcer Kirk Herbstreit and golfer Brandt Snedeker, both with Nashville ties, often sport tailored suits courtesy of the brand.

“We are pleased Peter Millar chose our center for their first Tennessee location,” said Jimmy Granbery, chairman and CEO of H.G. Hill Realty Co., which is developing Hill Center Brentwood. “Known as a high- quality brand with exceptional customer service, we welcome them to Hill Center Brentwood.”

In addition to The Oxford Shop, which is located in Bedford Commons in Green Hills, Peter Millar clothing items have been available in the Nashville market at multiple stores.

Viars said he is pleased area clients will soon have a bricks-and-mortar option exclusive to Peter Millar line.

“As one of the original Peter Millar accounts, I’ve watched the brand become one of the premiere luxury collections in the world,” said Viars, who is not disclosing the cost to get the Brentwood shop operational.

“We’re excited to bring a storefront to the Nashville area,” he added. “Hill Center Brentwood is attractive with its prime, mixed-use development strategically located at a main artery. We’re impressed with the list of businesses that will soon be our neighbors.”

In August, Hill Realty announced retail and restaurant tenants Jeni’s Splendid Ice Creams, Core Power Yoga and SunTrust Bank for Hill Center Brentwood.

Additional recently announced retailers and restaurants for the multi-building approximately $211 million mixed-use development include Hemline, Paper Source, Francesca’s, Fab’rik, Holler & Dash, Noire The Nail Bar, Dress Up and Del Frisco’s Grille. (Read more here.)

The 17-acre center is located at the southwest corner of the intersection of Franklin Road and Maryland Way.
