Experience Nolensville: Then and Now showcases historic buildings

Oct. 23-24 tour will raise funds for preservation of Morton-Brittain Home

Nolensville historic homes, churches and school/museum will welcome visitors to step in and experience its historic buildings to learn about the resilient people and unique places that helped build a small town in Williamson County.

The historic tour will feature three churches, the Historic Nolensville School and Museum and six historic homes.

The Nolensville Historical Society event serves as a fundraiser to continue the multi-year preservation project of the Morton-Brittain House. Built about 1870, the home was saved from demolition and moved in 2019 from its spot on Nolensville Road to Sam Donald Court in the historic district. Since then, preservation work has been continuous, meticulous and inspired.

“When we have no places to transport us to the past or storied walls to invite within, not only is our cultural understanding diminished, but I would argue that as a community we are at risk of losing our sense of place,” said Beth Lothers, Experience Nolensville: Then and Now committee member. “Experience Nolensville: Then & Now takes people on a tour to the past as well as the present, within the ongoing stories of these special places.”

The tour will be 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23 and 1-5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 24. It will stretch through Nolensville from the south end of the historic district at the Stearns House on Nolensville Road, built about 1860, north to the Brittain House, built in 1863, the anchor home of Brittain Downs neighborhood on Brittain Lane.
